Just want Metric System?
Do you like to build tall, tall towers with your colorful blocks. Or maybe you like to bake yummy, sweet cookies with a grown-up. I am a secret helper. I am always there to help. I show you how tall your tower is getting. I make sure you have just the right amount of sugar for your cookies so they taste super sweet. I help measure everything. I can tell you how much warm milk is in your cup or how far you can kick a big, bouncy ball in the grass. I am your measuring friend, and I love to help you see how big or small things are.
Guess what my name is. I am the Metric System. It's a big name for a big helper. A long, long time ago, around the year 1795, measuring things was a little mixed up. In a faraway place called France, people all measured things in their own way. Imagine if your friend said something was 'three hands tall' but their hands were much smaller than yours. It was very confusing. So, a group of smart friends had a wonderful idea. They decided to make one easy way for everyone to measure things. They made me. They used the number 10 because it's easy to count on your fingers. They created a special length called a 'meter' to help everyone get started, and soon we were measuring everything.
Today, I help people all over the big, round world. I help scientists measure tiny, wiggly bugs under a special glass. I help them measure giant, sparkly stars way up in the night sky. Doctors use me to make sure you get just the right amount of medicine to help you feel better when you are sick. I am like a friendly secret language for measuring that everyone can understand. When we all use me, we can share ideas, build amazing things like tall skyscrapers, and learn all about our wonderful world together. I help everyone work as a team.
