New Seven Wonders of the World

Have you ever seen a picture of a wall so long it looks like a sleepy dragon resting on big, green mountains? Or a giant stone circle where people cheered a long, long time ago? All around our big world, there are amazing places that people built. They are super special and very, very old. I am a list of the most incredible ones, chosen just for you to learn about. I am the New Seven Wonders of the World. I hold the stories of the most amazing buildings ever made.

Once upon a time, there was another list of wonders, but most of them are gone now, lost to time. So, a new idea was born. In the year 2000, a man named Bernard Weber helped start a big, worldwide vote to choose a new list. Millions and millions of friends from every corner of the earth got to pick their favorites. It was like a giant game where everyone got to say, "I think this place is the most wonderful!". Then, on a sunny day, July 7th, 2007, the winners were announced. They picked a long, strong wall in China, a pretty pink city called Petra, and a giant statue in Brazil that looks like it is giving the whole world a big, warm hug.

My job is to be a happy reminder of all the clever things people can do. Each wonderful place on my list tells a story of people from long ago working together. They show us that when we share ideas and help each other, we can build big, beautiful things that make everyone smile. I hope that one day you can see pictures of all my wonders, learn their stories, and maybe even visit them. I am a happy celebration of the amazing things we can all do when we dream big and build together.
