I Am Aesop's Fables
Can you imagine a clever fox tiptoeing through the woods. Or a speedy rabbit hopping so fast. In my world, animals can talk and sing and play. They have happy secrets to share and fun things to teach. I am a collection of all their wonderful tales. I am Aesop's Fables.
A kind storyteller named Aesop dreamed me up a very, very long time ago. It was around the 6th century BCE, in a sunny land called Ancient Greece. He watched the animals and wondered what they would say if they could speak. He created stories about them, like the one about the slow tortoise who won a race against a fast hare. He told a story about a tiny mouse who helped a great big lion. Aesop's stories were not just silly. Each one had a special message about being kind, smart, and brave.
For many, many years, my stories have been shared all over the world. Grown-ups tell them to children to help them learn big lessons in a small, fun way. My tales of talking animals show that it’s important to keep trying. They show that little friends can be the biggest helpers. Being clever is a good thing to be. I am like a little book of secrets from my animal friends, and I will always be here to share them with you.
