Just want Metamorphoses?
Hello, little friend. Come closer and listen. I am full of whispers and wonders. When you open my pages, you can see amazing things. You might see a girl with sunny hair turn into a tall, green tree. Or you might see a hero race across the big blue sky. My stories are like magic. They twist and turn and change all the time. I am a very special book full of poems. My name is Metamorphoses. I love sharing my secrets with you. Are you ready to hear my story?
A kind poet made me a very, very long time ago. His name was Ovid, and he loved telling tales. He lived in a big, busy city called Rome, with tall buildings and noisy chariots. It was around the year 8 CE when he created me. Ovid loved stories more than anything. He used his special pen to fill my pages with all the best stories he knew. He wrote about brave heroes and shining goddesses who lived in the clouds. Most of all, he wrote about people who could change into something new, right before your eyes. One story is about a girl named Daphne. She ran so fast to stay safe, and she magically became a beautiful laurel tree with green, shiny leaves. Ovid filled my pages with hundreds of amazing stories just like that one. Every page holds a new surprise and a new adventure for you to discover.
For thousands of years, children and grown-ups have read my stories. They love my magic. Painters have put my heroes on their big canvases with bright colors. Sculptors have carved my characters from smooth, cool stone. My stories show that everything in the world can grow and change in wonderful ways. A little seed can become a big tree. A little caterpillar can become a beautiful butterfly. I remind you that your own imagination is magical, too. You can create new worlds in your mind, just like my poet Ovid did so long ago. What will you imagine today?
