Just want Metamorphoses?
I am not a person you can see, but I am full of whispers and wonders. I am like a big, flowing river filled with stories that sparkle. Inside me, you can find tales of amazing changes, like a girl who becomes a laurel tree so she doesn't get caught by a sun god, or a weaver who was so proud of her work that she was turned into a spider. I hold hundreds of these tales, all about things turning into something else. My name is the Metamorphoses, and I am a very old and magical poem.
My creator was a kind and clever poet named Ovid. He lived a very long time ago in a big, busy city called Rome. Around the year 8 CE, which was more than two thousand years ago, he decided to do something amazing. He gathered hundreds of myths, which are old stories about gods, heroes, and magical creatures. Then, he carefully wove them all together into one giant poem. He used beautiful words to connect every story to one big idea: transformation. That’s a big word that just means changing. Ovid wanted to tell the story of the entire world, from the very first day it was created all the way to his own time. He wanted everyone to see that everything in the world, from people to plants, is always, always changing.
My stories did not end when Ovid finished writing them. They have traveled through time, like little seeds of imagination. For over two thousand years, people have read my words and felt inspired. Artists have dipped their brushes in paint to show my scenes on canvases. Sculptors have taken big blocks of stone and carved out my characters, making them look real. My tales of a boy who could fly too close to the sun or a king whose touch turned everything to gold are still told today. I remind everyone that change can be beautiful and that you can always grow into something new. I am still here, waiting to share my magic with you and help you imagine a world where anything is possible.
