Just want Norse Sagas?
Before I had pages, I was a story told in the flickering light of a fire. I was a whisper on the cold northern wind, a tale shared in cozy longhouses while snow fell outside. I carried the sounds of adventure: the crash of ocean waves against a Viking longship, the mighty roar of a dragon, and the boom of a god's hammer striking an anvil. I am not just one story, but a whole family of them, filled with brave heroes, clever queens, and powerful gods. I am the Norse Sagas. I was born in the imaginations of the people of the North, in places we now call Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. I was their entertainment, their history, and their way of understanding the amazing and sometimes scary world around them.
For hundreds of years, during the Viking Age from the 8th to the 11th centuries, I lived only in people’s memories. Storytellers, called skalds, were like superstars. They would travel from village to village, sharing my tales of great deeds and faraway lands. Everyone would gather around to listen. But as time passed, the people of Iceland, a special island settled by Vikings, worried that I might be forgotten. They didn't want my adventures to disappear like smoke. So, in the 13th and 14th centuries, wise scribes began the careful work of writing me down. It was a very important job. They used ink and feathers to capture my words on special pages called parchment, which is made from animal skin. By doing this, they saved me forever. They wrote about real explorers like Leif Erikson, who sailed to new lands, and about mythical gods like Thor with his mighty hammer and his tricky brother Loki.

A Story That Never Ends
For the people who wrote me, I was more than just an adventure—I was their history. I taught them about their ancestors, the brave people who came before them. I taught them about courage, friendship, and how to be strong even when things are tough. And even though I am very, very old, my adventures are still exciting today. My stories of gods, giants, heroes, and fantastic creatures have inspired countless books, comics, and even movies you might have seen. I am a treasure chest of imagination from long ago. Whenever you hear a tale of a daring voyage, see a hero with super strength, or read about magical worlds, a little piece of my ancient magic is still alive. I am here to remind you that a great story, shared with heart, can live forever and connect people all across time.
