The story

A Party on the Moon

Hello. My name is Chang’e, and I am the lady who lives way up high on the big, bright moon. It is my sparkly, silver home. I am not alone up here. My fluffy friend, the Jade Rabbit, is with me, hopping around and keeping me company. We love looking down at your beautiful world. Tonight is a very special night. It is the Mid-Autumn Festival. This is when my home, the moon, is at its biggest and roundest. It shines so bright. It is the perfect night for a party, and everyone is invited to look up and celebrate with me.

From my home on the moon, I can see so many wonderful things happening down on Earth. I see families gathering together in their yards and in parks. They are laughing and smiling as they point up at me and my big, round moon. The children are holding colorful lanterns that glow in the dark. Some lanterns are shaped like my friend, the Jade Rabbit, and others look like little twinkling stars. Everyone is sharing yummy, round mooncakes. They have sweet fillings inside and look so delicious. It makes my heart happy to see everyone together, sharing and having fun under my light.

The mooncakes are round just like my home, the moon. This round shape is very important. It reminds everyone to be together like a big, happy circle of family and friends. It is a time for sharing love and yummy treats. So, on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, when you see the big, bright moon shining in the sky, look very closely. You might see me and the Jade Rabbit waving back at you. And when you share a yummy mooncake with someone you love, remember that sharing is the best and sweetest part of any celebration.
