Hello! I am a very special day in the country of the Netherlands. My name is Liberation Day. People observe me every year on the 5th of May. My day is a happy time because I am all about remembering freedom for the country. It is a day for people to feel joyful and celebrate being able to live in peace.
When my day arrives, you can see bright colors everywhere. People fly the Dutch flag high in the air. The flag has three beautiful stripes of red, white, and blue. Another one of my important symbols is a special fire. It is called the Liberation Fire. This fire is very meaningful. Runners light torches from this fire and carry them all across the country. They run from town to town to share the light, which is a symbol of freedom for everyone.
My day is also filled with happy sounds and delicious tastes. All over the Netherlands, people go to big music festivals to celebrate. They listen to music and enjoy being together outside. Families and friends also gather to share a special meal. A very popular food to eat is a warm soup called Liberty Soup. Sharing this soup is a lovely way for people to remember freedom and the importance of being together.
