The story

I Am Belgian National Day

Hello! I am National Day - Belgian. I am a very special day for the country of Belgium. People celebrate me every year on a sunny summer day, July 21st. My day is important because it marks a big moment in Belgium's history. It is the day the country welcomed its very first king, a man named Leopold I. This was a long time ago, and it was the start of something new and exciting for the country.

On my day, there are many wonderful things to see. In the big city of Brussels, which is the capital of Belgium, there are huge parades. So many people come to watch! The King and Queen of Belgium are there, too, and they watch the parade with everyone. Sometimes, you can look up at the sky and see something amazing. Airplanes fly high above, leaving trails of smoke behind them. The smoke is in the colors of the Belgian flag: black, yellow, and red. It paints a beautiful picture in the sky for everyone to enjoy.

When the sun goes down and the sky gets dark, the fun is not over. It is time for fireworks! Families gather together and look up to see the sky sparkle with bright, beautiful colors. It is a magical sight. People also enjoy eating special Belgian foods to celebrate. Many people eat yummy waffles and tasty fries. My day is a happy time for families and friends to come together, watch the shows, and share a special meal.
