Just want Our Lady of Aparecida - Brazilian?
Hello! I am the holiday of Our Lady of Aparecida. I am a special day for people in Brazil. My story began a very long time ago with three fishermen in a boat. They were trying to catch fish for their families.
The fishermen threw their big net into the river. When they pulled it back in, they found something surprising. It was not a fish. It was a small statue of a lady, made from dark clay. Finding this little statue was the very beginning of my story.
The small statue became very important to many people in Brazil. They believe the lady from the statue is a special protector for their whole country. She is known as the Patron Saint of Brazil. For many people, she is a symbol of care and hope.
Today, people observe me on October 12th. It is a joyful time. Many families visit a very big church in a city called Aparecida to see the statue. There are also happy parades with music. Families and friends gather to share food and spend the day together.
