The story

Hello, I'm Nuclear Power!

Hello there. My name is Nuclear Power. I am a special kind of energy, like a tiny superhero hidden deep inside of things called atoms. You can't see me, but I have a big job to do. I have the power to make lots of light and warmth for the whole world. I love to glow and help everyone feel cozy and bright. I am a quiet but very strong helper, and I am happy to share my energy with you.

I was sleeping for a very, very long time. One day, a smart and kind scientist named Enrico Fermi and his friends decided it was time for me to wake up. On a chilly day, December 2nd, 1942, they gently woke me up in a place called Chicago. It wasn't loud or scary. I just opened my eyes and made a soft, warm glow. It was a happy moment. Everyone saw that my gentle warmth could be used to help people all over the world. I felt so proud to finally show my special light.

Today, my job is to help make electricity. I help light up your homes so you can play with your toys. I help keep schools warm and bright so you can learn new things. I even help hospitals so doctors and nurses can help people feel better. I am a very clean helper. I don't make the air dirty with smoke or dust. I work hard to keep our planet healthy and our world shining bright, just for you.
