Just want Steel Plow?
Hello. I am a shiny Steel Plow. Before I was made, farmers had a big, sticky problem. The ground in a giant field called the prairie was like thick, gooey mud. The old plows were made of bumpy iron, and they would get so stuck. Gloop. The farmers had to stop working again and again to scrape all the sticky dirt off their plows. It made planting tiny seeds for yummy food very, very hard for them. They wanted to grow corn and wheat, but the sticky ground made their job slow and tiring. It was a big, muddy mess.
My creator was a kind blacksmith named John Deere. In the year 1837, he saw how the farmers struggled in their fields. He wanted to help them. John Deere had a super clever and shiny idea. He found an old steel saw that was not being used anymore. The steel was so smooth and so shiny. He carefully shaped that piece of steel into me, a brand new kind of plow. I was so excited. When I first slid into the earth, the sticky mud just slipped right off my smooth sides. Whoosh. I didn't get stuck at all. I was so strong and could move so fast.
I made the farmers so happy. They cheered when they saw how I could glide through the dirt. Now they could plow their fields quickly and easily. Zip, zip, zip. I helped them make neat, straight rows for planting lots of seeds. Soon, fields of yummy corn and wheat were growing tall under the sun. I helped the farmers grow so much food for their families and for many other people all over the country. Even today, plows that are like my great-great-grandchildren still help farmers. They help grow the delicious food that ends up on your dinner plate for you to eat.
