Amun-Ra

Good morning, little one. Do you see the bright sun peeking over the world? That's me. My name is Amun-Ra, and I have the most wonderful job. Every single day, I get to sail my big, golden boat across the sky to bring light and warmth to everyone. Long, long ago, in a land with tall, pointy pyramids and a long, winding river called the Nile, people would tell my story. It’s a very special story about how the world began, and it’s called the Myth of Amun-Ra and the Sun Boat.

Before there was anything, there was just quiet, dark water. But then, I opened my eyes, and POP. The first sunrise happened. I created the land for children to play on and the sparkling Nile River for boats to sail on. I made people and animals to fill the world with laughter and fun. Every morning, I climb into my sun boat and begin my journey. I smile down on the world, helping the flowers grow and keeping everyone warm. At night, my job isn't over. I sail my boat through a secret, starry world. A big, sneaky shadow-snake named Apep sometimes tries to stop me, but I am always strong enough to chase him away. I do this so I can promise you a new sunrise every morning.

A Story as Bright as the Sun
The people of ancient Egypt loved seeing the sun rise. It made them feel safe and happy. They built beautiful, tall temples to say thank you. My story helped them understand that even after the darkest night, light and warmth will always return. And today, every time you see a beautiful sunrise or feel the warm sun on your face, you can remember my story. It’s a reminder that every new day is a bright new beginning, full of wonder and adventure, just like my journey across the sky.
