The story

The Story of Cinderella

Hello there, my dear. You might not see me, but I'm always near when a kind heart is in need of a little hope. My name is the Fairy Godmother, and my job is to add a sprinkle of magic to the world. I have been around for a very long time, helping good people find their happiness, and one of my very favorite stories to tell is the one you might know as the tale of Cinderella.

Long ago, in a cozy house with a big fireplace, lived a sweet girl named Cinderella. She was kind to everyone, even the little mice who scurried in the kitchen. But her stepmother and stepsisters were not kind to her at all, making her clean and cook all day long. One day, an invitation arrived from the palace. The prince was having a grand ball, and every young lady in the kingdom was invited. Cinderella dreamed of going, of wearing a beautiful dress and dancing in the castle. But her stepsisters just laughed, tore her simple dress, and left for the ball without her. Cinderella ran to the garden, her heart full of sadness. She wished with all her might for just one night of happiness.

That's when I appeared, with a shimmer of starlight and a friendly smile. “Don't you worry,” I told her. Cinderella was surprised, but I told her not to worry. With a wave of my wand, the magic began. A big, round pumpkin in the garden patch grew and swelled, turning into a sparkling golden carriage. The little mice became grand white horses, and a friendly farm horse became the coachman. But what about a dress? With another flick of my wand, Cinderella's dusty rags swirled into a breathtaking ball gown, shimmering like a thousand stars. And on her feet appeared the most delicate pair of glass slippers. I gave her one rule: the magic would only last until midnight. Cinderella promised to remember and rode off to the ball, her heart full of joy. At the palace, everyone wondered who the beautiful princess was, especially the prince, who danced with her all evening. But as the clock began to strike twelve, Cinderella remembered my warning and rushed away, leaving one tiny glass slipper behind on the grand staircase.

The prince was determined to find the girl who fit the glass slipper. He searched every home in the kingdom. When he arrived at Cinderella's house, the stepsisters tried to squeeze their big feet into the slipper, but it was no use. Then, Cinderella quietly appeared. The slipper slid onto her foot perfectly. Her wish had come true. The story of Cinderella and her magical helper, me, has been told for hundreds of years, in many different countries. It was written down by storytellers like Charles Perrault in France on January 12th, 1697, and the Brothers Grimm in Germany. This tale reminds us that kindness is a special kind of magic and that even when things seem dark, a little bit of hope can change everything. It inspires movies, books, and dreams, showing us that everyone deserves a chance to go to the ball.
