Just want Hou Yi?
The world was once so hot, the rivers began to boil and the plants turned to dust. My name is Hou Yi, and I am an archer. I watched my people suffer under the heat of ten blazing suns that had all decided to appear in the sky at once. Something had to be done, and I was the only one who could do it. This is the story of how I saved the world, a myth people now call Hou Yi Shoots the Suns.
In a time long ago, the ten suns were brothers, the sons of the great Jade Emperor. They were supposed to take turns lighting up the sky, one for each day. But one day, they decided it would be fun to all come out together. Their combined heat was too much for the Earth. The ground cracked open, forests caught fire, and people had nowhere to hide. The emperor of the land, Emperor Yao, prayed for a hero to help. He called for me, Hou Yi, because he knew I was the best archer in all the land. He gave me a special red bow and a quiver of white arrows and asked me to save our world.
I took my magical bow and arrows and traveled to the highest mountain I could find, the great Kunlun Mountain. When I reached the peak, I was so close to the sky that I could feel the fiery breath of the suns. I called out to them, 'Brothers of the sun! You must go back home and come out one at a time. You are hurting the Earth and all the people.'. But the suns were proud and mischievous. They just laughed and shone even brighter, ignoring my plea. I knew then that words would not be enough. With a heavy heart, I knew I had to use my arrows.

With a heavy heart, I knew I had to use my arrows.
I pulled back the string of my mighty bow, placing the first arrow. I aimed carefully and let it fly. WHOOSH. The arrow soared through the sky and struck one of the suns. It exploded in a shower of golden feathers and fell from the sky as a three-legged crow. The air cooled just a little. I shot another arrow, and then another. One by one, I shot down nine of the naughty suns, and with each one, the Earth became a little more peaceful. The rivers began to flow again, and the plants started to lift their heads. I left just one sun in the sky, the perfect amount to keep our world warm and bright.
The people cheered and celebrated. I was called a hero for bringing balance back to the world. This story has been told for thousands of years to teach us about courage and responsibility. It shows that too much of a good thing can be bad, and that nature needs balance. Today, when you look up at our one, perfect sun, you can remember the story of my great challenge. It reminds us that even one person can make a big difference, and it continues to inspire paintings, stories, and even parts of celebrations like the Mid-Autumn Festival, where families look at the moon and remember the great stories of the sky.
