The story

The Myth of Kvasir and the Mead of Poetry

Once, there was someone very special named Kvasir. He was made from the happy thoughts of all the gods when they decided to be friends. Poof. There was Kvasir. Because he was made from happy thoughts, he was very, very wise. He knew all the secrets of the big, wide world. Kvasir loved to travel everywhere and share his wonderful ideas with everyone he met. He wanted everyone to feel happy and smart, just like him. This is the story of how his wisdom became a sweet gift for everyone. It is a tale the Norse people told long ago called The Myth of Kvasir and the Mead of Poetry.

Kvasir walked all over the green earth. He walked under the bright, warm sun and the sparkly, twinkling stars. He talked to everyone he saw. He talked to the buzzing bees. Buzz, buzz, buzz. He talked to the tall trees that whispered in the wind. Swish, swish, swish. He even talked to the little fish that swam in the shiny rivers. Soon, Kvasir was full of so many wonderful stories and happy songs. He felt like a big, happy balloon, ready to pop with beautiful ideas. He wanted to share this happy feeling with all the people, so they could tell their own stories and sing their own songs, too.

Kvasir's wonderful, wise thoughts turned into a magical, sweet honey drink. The drink shimmered and glowed just like sunshine in a cup. When people took just a tiny sip, their hearts filled with beautiful words and happy songs. They became poets who could tell amazing stories. They became singers who could sing lovely songs. This story helped people understand where fun ideas come from. Whenever you hear a wonderful story or sing a happy song, you are sharing a little drop of that sweet, magical gift. You are sharing Kvasir's wonderful wisdom.
