Nasreddin put a soft blanket on his donkey. Then he hopped on. But wait. He sat down facing the donkey’s fluffy tail. Clip-clop, clip-clop went the donkey down the road. Some children saw them and started to follow. They pointed and giggled. “Nasreddin.” they shouted. “You are facing the wrong way.”. All the grown-ups looked and looked. They were very confused. Why was he riding his donkey backward.
Nasreddin just smiled a big, happy smile. He looked at all the children behind him. “Well,” he said in a kind voice. “If I face forward, I can’t see your happy faces. And if you walk in front of me, I can’t see you at all. This way, we can all travel together and see each other just right.”. Everyone started to laugh a big, happy laugh.
