Long, long ago, there were two tiny babies. Their names were Romulus and Remus. They were brothers, twin brothers! The babies floated in a basket on a big, sparkly river. Swish, swoosh went the basket. Swish, swoosh went the water. This is the story of Romulus and Remus.
The tiny babies were all alone. Oh no! But then, a big, furry mother wolf came to the river. She had kind, gentle eyes. The wolf picked up the basket and carried the babies to her cozy den. She gave them warm milk and snuggled them close. A little woodpecker came to help! Tap, tap, tap! The woodpecker brought them yummy red berries to eat. Soon, a kind shepherd saw the babies. His name was Faustulus. He took them home to his wife, and they grew up big and strong.
Romulus and Remus were all grown up. They were big and strong boys! They said, "Let's build a city!". They wanted to build a safe and happy home for everyone. So they built a big, wonderful city with tall, tall houses. They built it near the river where the kind wolf found them. They called their city Rome. Everyone loved the story of the boys and the wolf. It showed them that being kind is important and that even little babies can grow up to do big, amazing things.
