Just want Sang Thong - Thai?
Once upon a time, a little boy named Sang Thong lived in a very wonderful house. It was a big, shiny conch shell. The shell was pearly and swirly, and he felt so safe and warm tucked inside. He loved his cozy shell home. But sometimes, he would peek out of his shell. He saw the big, wide world and wondered what was out there. This is the story of Sang Thong and how he left his shell.
One day, Sang Thong saw his mommy, the Queen. She was working very hard and looked so tired. Sang Thong wanted to help her. He magically slipped out of his shell and helped his mommy with her chores. When the Queen saw him, she was so happy. She gently broke the shell so her little boy could be with her always. Later, Sang Thong had to go on a big adventure. He found a silly disguise. It was a mask that made him look like a funny man with wild hair called a Ngo Pa. He wore the mask to keep his golden self a secret. He went to a kingdom where seven princesses were choosing husbands. The kindest princess of all, named Rochana, looked right past his silly mask. She saw the kind person hiding inside and threw her beautiful flower garland right to him.
The princess’s father, the king, was not happy at all. He was upset she chose someone who looked so strange. But when there were big challenges to face, Sang Thong showed everyone his secret. He took off the Ngo Pa mask. Wow. He was a tall and shiny golden prince. Everyone gasped because they were so surprised and happy. The king saw that he was wrong to judge Sang Thong by his disguise. The story of Sang Thong helps people remember that it’s what is in your heart that is most important, not what you look like on the outside. It reminds us to be kind to everyone.
