Just want Venus?
Have you ever stood by the ocean and watched the waves dance? Well, my story begins right there, in the sparkling sea foam. Hello, I am Venus, and I want to share my tale with you. One sunny morning, long, long ago, I was born from the gentle sea, rising from the water on a giant, shimmering seashell. The west wind, Zephyr, softly blew me to the shore of a beautiful island, where the goddesses of the seasons greeted me with robes made of flowers. From that very first moment, my job was to bring beauty and love to the world. This is the ancient Roman myth of Venus, the goddess of gardens and friendship.
As soon as my feet touched the land, flowers bloomed in my footsteps. That’s my special magic! My job is the best one on Mount Olympus. I fly across the world, making sure gardens are full of sweet-smelling roses and that birds sing lovely songs. I help people feel kindness and friendship in their hearts. You know that warm, happy feeling you get when you hug someone you love? That’s a little bit of my magic at work. I am not alone in my work. My son, Cupid, helps me. He’s a playful boy with a little bow and a quiver full of arrows. When he shoots one of his special arrows into someone’s heart, they fall in love! Together, we fill the world with affection and joy, reminding everyone that love is the most beautiful thing of all.
The people of ancient Rome loved these stories. They built magnificent temples for me and told tales about my adventures to explain the beauty of nature and the wonderful feeling of love. They saw me in every blooming flower and every act of kindness. Thousands of years have passed, but my story is still remembered. Artists have painted beautiful pictures of me rising from the sea, like Sandro Botticelli’s famous painting, “The Birth of Venus,” which you can still see today. Poets write about the love I represent. And if you look up at the night sky, you’ll see the brightest, most beautiful planet, which is named after me. My myth is a reminder to always look for beauty in the world, to be a good friend, and to share your love with others. It’s a story that continues to inspire people to create art and dream of a kinder, more beautiful world.
