Just want National Geographic Society?
Hello! We are the National Geographic Society. Our story began a long, long time ago, in the year 1888. A group of people who loved to learn about the world created us. These people were explorers and scientists who wanted to see and understand everything about our amazing planet. Most of all, they wanted to share what they learned with everyone.
We help explorers and scientists go on important adventures. They travel to all kinds of interesting places. Some climb way up to the tops of snowy mountains, while others dive deep, deep down to the bottom of the blue sea. They look at animals, plants, and stars. While they are exploring, they take beautiful pictures of what they see. They also make maps to show where everything is. We put these amazing photos into our magazines so that you can see these wonderful places, too.
Today, we have a very important job. We work to take care of our planet. Our planet is everyone's home, and we want to keep it healthy and safe. We help protect animals and the special places where they live, like forests and oceans. We want to make sure the Earth stays beautiful for all the people, plants, and animals who share it. Helping everyone learn about our world helps us all take better care of it.
