Royal Flying Doctor Service

Hello! We are the Royal Flying Doctor Service. That is a long name, but it is easy to remember what we do. We are special helpers in a big country called Australia. Some people live very, very far away from towns and cities, in big, open places. When they get sick or hurt, it can be hard to get to a doctor.

That is where we come in! We are like a hospital with wings. We have special airplanes that fly through the sky to help people. Inside our planes, it looks like a doctor’s office or a small hospital room. We have a special bed for someone who is not feeling well, and we have all the tools our doctors and nurses need to help them feel better. Our team of amazing doctors and friendly nurses fly right to where people need them.

Our service started a long time ago because of a wonderful idea. A man named John Flynn saw that people living in the Australian outback needed help. He had a big idea: what if we could use airplanes to bring medical help to them? Because of his smart thinking, we were able to start our work. We began using our planes to reach families and workers who were far from any hospital.

Today, we are still flying and still helping. Our planes are ready to take off whenever someone calls for us. We make sure that everyone in Australia can get help from a doctor, no matter how far away they live. Our hospital with wings is always ready to fly to the rescue!
