Just want Ancient Egyptians?
Hello! We are the people of ancient Egypt. We lived a very, very long time ago. Our home was in a warm and sunny land in Africa. A long, wonderful river flowed right next to our homes. This river was very important to us and helped us in many ways. It was the heart of our land.
The name of our river was the Nile River. It gave us fresh water to drink. The river also made the soil around it soft and good for growing food. We grew lots of wheat to make yummy bread for our families to eat. The Nile was also like a big road for us. We built boats so we could travel up and down the river to visit other towns and see our friends.
We loved to build amazing things. Our biggest buildings were called pyramids. They were giant and shaped like triangles. We built them using huge, heavy stones that took many people to move. It was hard work, but we worked together. We built the pyramids to be special resting places for our kings and queens. We called our rulers pharaohs.
We loved all kinds of animals, and many of us had pets in our homes. Our favorite pets were cats! We thought cats were very special animals and treated them like good friends. We believed that having a cat in our house brought us good luck. We took great care of our cats, and they were a beloved part of our families.
We lived a long, long time ago, but you can still see the things we made. If you visit the land of Egypt today, you can see our giant pyramids still standing in the sun. You can also visit museums to see our special kind of picture-writing. We called it hieroglyphs. It tells stories about our life from long ago.
