Hello! We are the Rarámuri people. Our home is in a beautiful place in Mexico called the Copper Canyon. The canyons are very big, with tall mountains all around. This is where we build our homes. We find strong wood and smooth stones from the mountains to make our houses. Sometimes, we live in cozy caves that are warm and safe inside the canyon walls. Our canyon home is very special to us.
Our name, Rarámuri, has a wonderful meaning. It means 'runners on foot.' We are known for running, and we love it! We wear special sandals on our feet called huaraches. These sandals help us run safely on the rocky paths in the mountains. Running is how we get around our big home. We run to visit our friends and family who live in other parts of the canyon. We also have fun running games that we play together. Running makes us feel strong and happy.
We still live in our home in the Copper Canyon today. We have gardens where we grow yummy food to eat, like corn and beans. We also make our own bright, colorful clothes. We love to wear beautiful patterns and colors that we create. We are happy to be living in our home, running on our paths, and keeping our traditions alive. We are the Rarámuri, the running people.
