Granada

I wake up every morning to warm sunshine on my face. I live in a country called Spain, where big, tall mountains watch over me while I sleep. All day long, I hear the happy sound of guitars playing soft music, and I can smell sweet flowers blooming on my orange trees. I love to feel the warm breeze and watch children laugh and play. My name is Granada, and I am a city full of wonderful stories.

A long, long time ago, special kings wanted to build a beautiful palace just for me. They stacked big reddish stones, one by one, like giant building blocks. They decorated my walls with pretty, colorful tiles that fit together like a puzzle. Inside the palace, they built fountains that whisper and sing with water all day and all night. They called this magical place the Alhambra. I also have special gardens filled with rows and rows of bright flowers. In my gardens, the water plays music as it flows through tiny rivers. I felt so happy watching the kings and queens walk through my pretty halls and listen to the singing water.

Then, one day in the year 1492, new friends came to visit. A new king and queen saw how beautiful I was and decided to stay. They loved my singing fountains and my colorful puzzle walls so much. They promised to always take care of me. They even built their own new homes and churches right next to my palace. Now, friends from all over the world come to see me. They smile when they see my pretty gardens and listen to my water songs. I am here to show everyone that beautiful things can be shared and loved forever.
