Just want Mekong Delta?
I am a land made from countless sparkling rivers and canals. If you were here, you would see boats gliding on my waters like dragonflies, carrying sweet-smelling fruits and colorful flowers. My air is warm and filled with the scent of jasmine, and my fields are a brilliant, shining green. I am a beautiful maze of water and land, a special gift from a mighty river that flows through many countries. Long ago, people saw my main river split into many smaller ones and thought it looked like a giant dragon. My friends call me the 'River of Nine Dragons,' but you can call me the Mekong Delta.
My story began a very long time ago, around 6000 BCE, when the great Mekong River started bringing me gifts. These gifts were not toys or jewels, but rich, muddy soil called silt. For thousands and thousands of years, the river has slowly built me up, layer by layer, making my land perfect for growing things. Long, long ago, starting in the 1st century, I was home to clever traders from a place called the Funan Kingdom. They were great sailors who traveled along my waterways to trade goods with other people. Much later, in the 1600s, wonderful farmers from Vietnam arrived. They looked at my rich soil and said, “This is the perfect place to grow rice!”. They began planting rice paddies everywhere, turning me into the green 'Rice Bowl' of Vietnam because I grow so much food for everyone.
Every morning, I wake up to the cheerful sounds of my floating markets. It is a wonderful sight. Boats of all sizes bob gently on the water, filled to the very top with bright yellow mangoes, spiky red rambutans, and steaming bowls of delicious noodle soup called phở. People call out to each other, laughing and trading their goods. Families live in special houses built on tall stilts right over my cool water, so they are always close to me. Children giggle as they learn to paddle small boats, called sampans, to visit their friends or go to school. Life here flows with my rhythm, from the busy, happy markets at dawn to the quiet, starry nights when the only sound is the gentle lapping of my water.

I am a special home for millions of people, countless fish, and beautiful birds. I share my gifts of fresh water and delicious food every single day, and I am very proud of that. I love being a place where life is always moving and full of wonderful surprises, just like a river that is always flowing. I will always be here, a watery wonderland connecting people to nature and to each other. I hope that one day you can visit, but until then, I hope you will feel my gentle flow in your heart.
