The story

A Story of South America

Hello, It's Me!

I have a long, pointy shape. A line of tall, snowy mountains runs all the way down my back, like a spine. I am the Andes Mountains. A very big river winds through me like a long, blue ribbon. I am the Amazon River. In my green forests, colorful parrots fly through the air and playful monkeys swing from the trees. They all live with me, because I am a very big and special place. I am the continent of South America.

My Long, Long Story

My story is very, very long. A long time ago, even before your grandparents were born, the first people came to live with me. That was around the year 14,500 BCE. They were my first friends. They learned to live in my mountains and near my rivers. Later, a group called the Inca people built amazing cities high up in my mountains around the year 1438. They used big stones to build their homes, like stacking giant blocks. Then, starting in the year 1498, new friends came from far away. An explorer named Christopher Columbus and others sailed across the big blue ocean in large ships to visit me.

A World of Wonder

Today, I am full of happy people and exciting sounds. So many families live here. Some speak Spanish, and some speak Portuguese. They all love to dance to happy music and play fun games. One of their favorite games is soccer, where they kick a ball and try to score a goal. They also cook yummy foods like arepas and brigadeiros. I am also home to a very important place called the Amazon Rainforest. It is like a giant garden for the whole world, full of amazing plants and animals, and it helps everyone breathe clean air. It is a very special part of me.

Come Dream of Me!

I am a land of adventure, music, and friendship. I hope you will dream of my sunny beaches and my snowy mountain tops. Think about my amazing animals and my colorful cities full of dancing. I will always be here, waiting for you to imagine and explore.
