I Am Kindness
You might not see me, but you can always feel me. I am Kindness. I'm the warm feeling you get when someone shares their lunch with you, the smile from a stranger, or the helping hand offered when you drop your books. I am the choice to be gentle and understanding, especially when it's hard. I am present in the small moments that make a big difference in someone's day.
My true power is in the way I can travel from one person to another, something often called a ripple effect. I was there on the second day of school when a boy named Leo saw the new student, Maya, sitting all alone. He felt my presence as a quiet nudge to act. Leo made the choice to invite Maya to join his friends. In that moment, Maya felt welcomed and included, and I grew stronger.
The very next day, feeling more comfortable, Maya saw another classmate who was struggling with a math problem. Remembering the warmth she had felt, she passed it along by offering to help him. My journey didn't end there. Later that afternoon, the classmate she helped felt inspired and volunteered to assist the librarian with organizing books after school. From Leo to Maya to her classmate and then to the librarian, one small act spread throughout the school community.
From that simple invitation, I saw how a single choice created waves of good. I learned that even the smallest gesture has the power to grow into something much bigger, connecting people and strengthening an entire community. I continue to be present in these moments, reminding everyone of the power they hold to make a positive change.
