A Guide to Washing Away Germs

Washing hands is one of the best ways to stay healthy. All around us are tiny, invisible things called germs. Germs can make people sick if they get inside the body. They can get onto hands when we touch things like doorknobs, toys, or even when we cough or sneeze into our hands. Keeping hands clean helps stop these germs. The first step to washing away germs is to turn on warm water. Next, get your hands all wet under the running water. After they are wet, put one pump of soap on them to get ready for scrubbing.

Now it is time for the super scrub. Rub your hands together to make a lot of soap bubbles. It is important to scrub everywhere, including the palms, the backs of your hands, and in between each finger. Don't forget to clean under your fingernails, where germs can hide. To know if you have scrubbed long enough, you can sing the 'Happy Birthday' song two times. When you are done scrubbing, rinse all the soap and bubbles off under the clean, running water. You can watch the germs wash right down the drain. The last step is to dry your hands completely with a clean towel, because germs like to grow in wet places. This whole process helps keep you and your friends from getting colds or feeling sick, which means there is more time to play.

This simple habit is a powerful way to protect your health. Washing your hands properly removes harmful germs that can cause sickness. By keeping your hands clean, you not only help yourself stay well but also help protect your family, friends, and classmates from getting sick. It is one of the easiest and most important things you can do every day to stay strong and healthy for school, fun, and all your favorite activities.
