Just want Iberian Lynx?
Hello there. My name is Lynx, and I am a special kind of wild cat called an Iberian Lynx. I live in warm, sunny forests. My fur is covered in spots. Can you see them? My spots help me hide from everyone when I play hide-and-seek among the trees and bushes. It’s my best camouflage. My favorite part about myself is my ears. Look at them. They are so pointy. And at the very tip of each ear, I have long, black tufts of fur. They look like little paintbrushes, and they help me hear all the tiny sounds in my big forest home.
Do you want to know my favorite thing to do all day? My favorite thing is to hunt for my favorite food: European Rabbits. Shhh, you have to be very, very quiet if you want to hunt with me. I am a super sneaky hunter. I have big, soft paws that don't make any sound when I walk on the ground. I can creep through the tall grass and nobody knows I am there. I watch the rabbits hopping and munching on clover. I stay very still and just watch. When I get close enough, I get my body low to the ground and wiggle my tail. Then... POUNCE. I jump high in the air and land right on my dinner. It’s a fun game for me, and it’s how I get my yummy food to keep me strong.
For a little while, my Iberian Lynx family was very small. There were not many of us, and it was a bit lonely in our big forest. But I have some happy news. Kind people started helping us. They made sure we had safe places to live and lots of yummy rabbits to eat. Now, our family is getting bigger and stronger every day. I help too. By being a good hunter, I make sure there aren't too many rabbits, which keeps the whole forest healthy and balanced. That’s my special job, and I am very proud of it.
