Just want Salamander?
Hi there. My name is Sallie, and I'm a salamander. I have a long, wiggly body and four little legs. My skin is super smooth and shiny because it’s always a little wet. I'm an amphibian, which is a big word that means I can live in the water and on land. It’s like having two homes.
I live under a big, mossy log next to a sparkly stream. It's my favorite place because it's cool, dark, and damp, which is perfect for my skin. I love to peek out and hunt for yummy snacks like little bugs and squishy worms. Sometimes, a bigger animal tries to catch me. If they grab my tail, I can do a magic trick. I just let my tail pop off, and then I wiggle away to safety. Don't worry, I can grow a brand new one.
Even though I'm small, I have a very important job in the forest. By munching on all those little critters, I help keep the forest clean and healthy for all the plants and other animals. I love being a little helper in my big forest world. It feels good to know that even the smallest creatures like me can make a big difference.
