A Story About Andrew Jackson

Hello! My name is Andrew Jackson. I was born a very long time ago, on March 15th, 1767. I grew up in a little log cabin in a place called the Waxhaws. It was a wild and wonderful place to be a boy! I loved to run and play outside in the woods.

When I grew up, I became a soldier. I was very brave. My friends called me 'Old Hickory' because they said I was as tough as a hickory tree. I helped lead our country in a big fight called the War of 1812. After the war, the people of the United States chose me to be their leader. I became the seventh president! It was a very important job, and I worked hard to help our country grow.

I had a beautiful home in Tennessee called The Hermitage. I loved living there with my family on our big farm. I lived to be 78 years old. Today, people remember me as a strong president who loved America. You can even visit my home, The Hermitage, to see where I lived.
