The story

Andy Warhol: The Pop Art Artist

Hello! My name is Andy Warhol. When I was a little boy, I loved to draw and paint more than anything. I would stay inside and fill pages and pages with my doodles and drawings. It was my favorite way to make the world a more colorful place, right from my own room.

As I grew up, I had a big idea. I thought art shouldn't just be about fancy things. I believed art could be about everyday things, too! I looked at a can of soup and thought, 'That could be art!' So, I painted pictures of soup cans. I also made art of bananas and boxes and movie stars, using the brightest, happiest colors I could find. I wanted my art to POP!

I made art for my whole life, and I got to share my colorful ideas with the world. I lived to be 58 years old. Today, my bright paintings of soup cans and movie stars are in big museums for everyone to see. I hope my art reminds you that you can find something special and beautiful everywhere you look.
