The story

The Storytelling Brothers

Hello! We are the Brothers Grimm. My name is Jacob, and this is my brother, Wilhelm. We lived a long, long time ago in a country called Germany. We loved each other very much, and we loved to read books and listen to stories more than anything!

When we grew up, we traveled all over our country. We would sit with people and listen to them tell old stories that their grandparents had told them. These were magical tales about brave children, enchanted forests, and talking animals. We heard stories like 'Hansel and Gretel,' 'Cinderella,' and 'Little Red Riding Hood.'

We worried these wonderful stories might be forgotten! So, we wrote them all down in a big book. In the year 1812, we published our book called 'Children's and Household Tales.' Wilhelm lived to be 73 years old, and I, Jacob, lived to be 78. We are so happy that our book of fairy tales is still read by children like you all over the world, keeping the magic alive.
