Hello, my name is Carl. A long, long time ago, in the year 1875, I was born. When I was a little boy, I loved to play all by myself. I would build tiny worlds with stones and imagine big, wonderful adventures. I was quiet, but my mind was always busy. When I grew up, I became a special kind of doctor. I didn’t help with scraped knees or sniffles. I helped people understand their feelings and their dreams. I wanted to know all about the secret worlds inside each person.
I was like a detective for feelings. I loved listening to people tell me their stories. I would listen so carefully to everything they said. I also liked to look at the drawings and paintings they made. I believed that everyone has a wonderful, secret world inside them. This world is full of amazing pictures and ideas, just like in your imagination. I helped people explore their inner worlds to learn more about themselves and to feel happier.
My most important idea was that all our inner worlds are connected. It is like a big, secret library of stories that everyone shares deep inside. I lived to be 85 years old, until the year 1961. People remember me for helping the world see that our dreams and feelings are special treasures. They are the wonderful things that make you who you are.
