Just want Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz?
Hello! My name is Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. I was born a very long time ago, on July 1st, 1646. When I was a little boy, my favorite place was my father's library. It was filled with books from floor to ceiling! I loved to read and learn about everything in the world. I wanted to know how everything worked, from the stars in the sky to the numbers in my math book. I was always asking questions!
I loved thinking so much that I came up with some really big ideas. I thought, 'Wouldn't it be great to have a machine that could do math for you?' So, I designed a special calculating machine called the Stepped Reckoner. It was made of shiny brass gears and levers, and it could add, subtract, multiply, and divide! I also had another fun idea. What if you could write any number using just two little numbers: zero and one? It was like a secret code! A zero could be 'off' and a one could be 'on,' just like a light switch.
I lived a long and happy life filled with questions and inventions. That little 'secret code' of zeros and ones turned out to be a very big deal! Many years later, people used my idea to help build the first computers. Isn't that amazing? I lived to be 70 years old, and today, people remember me as someone who used his curiosity to imagine new things that helped change the world.
