Just want Gustav Klimt?
Hello! My name is Gustav Klimt, and I was a painter who loved to make things sparkle. I was born on July 14th, 1862, in a town called Baumgarten, near the big city of Vienna in Austria. My father was a gold engraver, which means he carved beautiful designs into shiny gold. Our house was always filled with art, and I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be an artist, too. I loved to draw everything I saw, and when I was just 14 years old, I went to a special school to learn how to paint.
At first, my brother Ernst and I painted big, beautiful pictures on the walls and ceilings of important buildings, like theaters. It was fun, but after a while, I felt like I wanted to create art that was completely new and different from what everyone else was doing. So, in 1897, I gathered my artist friends, and we started our own group. We called it the Vienna Secession. Our goal was to share exciting new ideas and create art that came from our imaginations, not just from old rules. We wanted our art to be modern and full of feeling.
The time I am most famous for is called my 'Golden Phase.' Just like my father, I loved working with gold! I started using real, paper-thin sheets of gold, called gold leaf, in my paintings. It made them shimmer and glow as if they were filled with sunlight. I painted portraits of women in beautiful, swirling dresses covered in patterns. My most famous painting from this time is called 'The Kiss,' which I finished around 1908. It shows two people hugging, wrapped in a golden blanket of love and beautiful shapes. I wanted it to feel magical, special, and full of joy.

I painted for my entire life, creating art that was bold and different. I lived to be 55 years old. Today, people from all over the world visit museums to see my paintings. They love how my art sparkles with gold and is filled with patterns and dreams.
