The story

H. G. Wells

Hello! My name is H. G. Wells. I was born a long, long time ago, in the year 1866. When I was a little boy, I loved to read books more than anything. They were like magic doors to other worlds! My head was always buzzing with big, wonderful, and sometimes silly ideas. I imagined all sorts of amazing adventures, and I just had to write them down to share with everyone.

I loved to ask the question, 'What if?'. In 1895, I wrote a story asking, what if a person could travel through time? I wrote about a special chair that could zoom into the future! A few years later, in 1898, I wondered what it would be like if visitors from the planet Mars came to Earth. I wrote stories about amazing inventions, incredible journeys, and exciting new worlds, all from my imagination.

I wrote many stories during my life. I lived to be 79 years old. I wanted my adventures to make people wonder and dream about all the amazing things that could happen. Even today, people read my books and make movies about my stories. It makes me so happy to know my ideas are still helping everyone use their own brilliant imaginations to dream of the future.
