The story

Herodotus

Hello! My name is Herodotus. I lived a very, very long time ago, even before your grandparents' grandparents were born! I loved stories more than anything. I wanted to hear about brave heroes, faraway lands, and amazing adventures. My favorite question to ask everyone I met was, 'What's your story?'.

I decided to go on a big trip to find the best stories in the world. I traveled on boats and walked on sandy paths. I visited a land called Egypt and saw giant triangle buildings called pyramids that touched the sky! Everywhere I went, I talked to people. I listened to their stories about kings and queens, big battles, and silly things that happened in their towns. I kept all of these wonderful stories safe in my memory.

When I came home, I didn't want to forget any of the amazing tales I heard. So, I wrote them all down in a great big book. I did this so that children just like you could learn about all the interesting people and places from long ago. I lived a long life full of adventure and stories. People still read my book today, and because I was one of the first people to save stories like this, they gave me a special nickname: 'The Father of History'!
