Just want Hypatia of Alexandria?
Hello! My name is Hypatia, and I lived a very long time ago in a beautiful city called Alexandria, in Egypt. I was born around the year 355. My father, Theon, was a brilliant mathematician and astronomer, and he was my greatest teacher. Instead of playing with dolls, I loved looking at the stars through telescopes and solving number puzzles with him. Our city was famous for the Great Library of Alexandria, a place filled with scrolls and books on every subject you can imagine! I spent my days learning about mathematics, the stars and planets, and philosophy, which is the study of big questions about life.
When I grew up, around the year 400, I became a teacher myself. I was the head of a famous school of philosophy in Alexandria. My classroom wasn't just for one type of person; students from different places and with different beliefs came to learn with me. I taught them how to think clearly and use logic to solve problems. We would discuss ideas from great thinkers like Plato. I believed that learning and reason were paths to understanding the world and being a good person. People from all over the city, including its leaders, would often come to me for advice because they respected my wisdom.
I didn't just teach; I was also a scientist and inventor! I loved working with my hands and my mind. I helped edit and improve important books written by famous mathematicians like Euclid, making them easier for my students to understand. I am also remembered for my work with scientific instruments. I worked on improving the design of the astrolabe, a clever tool that looked like a big metal disc. It helped sailors navigate by the stars and helped astronomers map the sky. Thinking, writing, and inventing were my greatest joys.

My life ended in the year 415. It was a difficult and violent time in my city, with many arguments between different groups of people, and I was caught in the middle of a political conflict. Though my time on Earth was over, my story was not. I lived a full life dedicated to seeking knowledge and sharing it with others. For many centuries after, people remembered me as a symbol of wisdom, learning, and courage. I hope my story reminds you that anyone, boy or girl, can be a great thinker and that asking questions is one of the most wonderful things you can do.
