A Story of Love and Faith

Hello, my name is Jesus. I want to tell you my story. I was born in a small town called Bethlehem around the year 4 BCE. My mother was Mary, and my earthly father was Joseph, a kind carpenter. Soon after my birth, we moved to Nazareth in the region of Galilee, and that is where I grew up. Life in Nazareth was simple. I learned Joseph's trade, working with wood to build and fix things for our neighbors. I also spent a lot of time studying the Jewish scriptures, which held the history and laws of our people. When I was 12 years old, my family traveled to the great city of Jerusalem for the Passover festival, an important religious celebration. I was so fascinated by the discussions at the Temple that I stayed behind to speak with the teachers there. They were amazed by my questions and understanding of the scriptures.

When I was about 30 years old, around the year 29 CE, I knew it was time to begin the work I was sent to do. I traveled to the Jordan River where my cousin, John, was baptizing people as a sign of their turning back to God. He baptized me, and it was a powerful moment that marked the official start of my public ministry. After this, I began to travel through the towns and villages, speaking to people about God's kingdom. I knew I couldn't do this work alone, so I started to gather a group of followers who believed in my message. I chose twelve men to be my closest companions and students. They came from all walks of life—fishermen, a tax collector, and others. We called them the apostles, and they traveled everywhere with me, learning from me so they could one day share my message with others.

For the next three years, my apostles and I traveled throughout the lands of Galilee and Judea. My central message was about God's love and the importance of loving your neighbor as yourself. To make these big ideas easier to understand, I often taught in simple stories called parables, which used everyday examples to reveal deeper truths. You may have heard of some, like the story of the Good Samaritan, which teaches us to show compassion and help anyone in need, regardless of who they are. Another is the Prodigal Son, a story about the power of forgiveness and celebrating when someone who was lost finds their way home. I also gave a famous teaching on a hillside, now called the Sermon on the Mount, where I shared ideas like 'blessed are the peacemakers' and encouraged people to be kind, humble, and merciful. I wanted everyone to understand that the most important things in life are love, compassion, and faith.

As I traveled and taught, large crowds began to follow me. They were curious about my teachings and the stories they heard. Sometimes, amazing things would happen in their presence. People believed I could heal the sick, help the blind to see, and even calm powerful storms with just a word. One time, a huge crowd of thousands had gathered on a remote hillside to listen to me, and as the day went on, they grew hungry. With only five loaves of bread and two fish available, I was able to make sure everyone had more than enough to eat. These events, which people called miracles, were not done for show; they were meant to be signs of the power and love of God. However, my growing popularity and authority made some of the powerful religious and political leaders nervous and angry.

Around the year 33 CE, I traveled to Jerusalem for the Passover festival one last time. As I entered the city, many people welcomed me with great excitement, waving palm branches and shouting with joy. A few days later, I gathered my twelve apostles in a quiet upper room for a final meal together, which is now called the Last Supper. During this meal, I shared bread and wine with them, asking them to always remember me and the teachings I had shared. I knew that my time on Earth was coming to an end. I tried to prepare them for what was coming, explaining that I would soon be arrested by the authorities who saw me as a threat to their power and the established order. That very night, while I was praying in a garden called Gethsemane, soldiers came and took me away.

I was put on trial and then crucified, a common and cruel Roman punishment at the time. I lived to be about 33 years old. While this was a sad and painful end to my life on Earth, my followers believed it was not the final chapter. They told stories of me rising from the dead three days later, an event that gave them incredible hope and the courage to carry on my work. My apostles and other followers traveled across the world to share my message of love, forgiveness, and the promise of eternal life. Their efforts started a new faith called Christianity. Today, billions of people around the globe continue to follow my teachings, finding inspiration in my life and hope in my message of peace and love for all humanity.
