Just want John Bardeen?
Hello! My name is John Bardeen. When I was a little boy, I was super curious. I loved to look at machines and gadgets and ask, 'How does that work?'. I always knew I wanted to be a scientist so I could figure out the answers to big questions.
When I grew up, I got to work with my friends in a big laboratory. In the year 1947, we were trying to make things like radios work better. We invented something very, very small but super powerful. We called it a transistor! It works like a tiny light switch that can turn things on and off really, really fast. This little invention was a huge deal and helped make electronics much smaller.
You might not see my invention, but it's hiding inside so many things you use every day! The transistor is in your family's phones, your computers, and even in your toys that light up and make sounds. I lived to be 82 years old. It makes me so happy to know that my little invention helps you play, learn, and connect with the world every single day.
