The story

John Glenn

Hello! My name is John Glenn. When I was a little boy, I loved to look up at the big blue sky. I would watch airplanes zoom by and dream of flying one day. I thought being a pilot would be the best adventure in the world.

When I grew up, I learned to fly planes, and then I became something new called an astronaut! I put on a shiny silver spacesuit and climbed into my very own spaceship. In the year 1962, I blasted off into space and became the first American to fly all the way around the Earth. It was so beautiful to see our world from so high up.

Guess what? Even when I was a grandpa, I went back to space one more time! It showed everyone that you are never too old for an adventure. I lived to be 95 years old. I hope when you look up at the stars, you remember to dream big and reach for them.
