Just want John Maynard Keynes?
Hello! My name is John Maynard Keynes. I was born in a lovely town called Cambridge, in England, on June 5th, 1883. When I was a boy, I didn't just like playing outside—I loved puzzles and numbers! For me, math was like a giant, exciting game. I was very good at it and loved figuring out tricky problems. It was my favorite thing to do.
When I grew up, I wanted to use my love of numbers to solve some of the world's biggest problems. I became an economist. That's a fancy word for someone who studies how money works. I looked at how people get jobs, why they buy things, and how we can make sure everyone has enough to live a happy life. It felt like I was putting together a giant puzzle that involved all the people in a country! I wanted to understand all the pieces so I could help make things better for everyone.
Around the year 1929, a very hard time began called the Great Depression. All around the world, many people lost their jobs. They couldn't afford to buy food or pay for their homes. Seeing so many people struggling made me very sad. I thought and thought about this big problem. I came up with a big idea. I believed that when people stop spending money, the government can help. The government could spend money to build new things, like roads, parks, and schools. This would create jobs for people. With jobs, they would have money to spend again, which would help everyone feel safe and happy.
I wrote down my ideas in a very important book in 1936. Leaders from many countries read my book and listened to my ideas. They used them to help their people during those hard times. I lived to be 62 years old, and I spent my life trying to find ways to make the world a fairer place for everyone. Even today, people who study money and jobs read my books and talk about my ideas to help solve new problems.
