Hello! My name is Karl Weierstrass. I was born a very long time ago, in the year 1815. Ever since I was a little boy, I have loved numbers. To me, numbers and shapes were like a fun puzzle just waiting to be solved. I loved finding patterns and figuring out how everything fit together perfectly. It was my favorite game!
When I grew up, I became a teacher. It was the best job because I got to share my love of number puzzles with all my students. I had a very important idea. I wanted to make sure that all the rules in math were super clear and strong, like building a tower with the best, sturdiest blocks. I checked every single rule to make sure it made perfect sense, so that our math tower would never, ever fall down.
I lived a long and happy life filled with my favorite puzzles and passed away in the year 1897. The work I did to make math strong and clear helped many other people solve even bigger and more amazing puzzles later on. Today, my ideas are still used by people who build incredible things and explore our world. People remember me as a teacher who helped make math make sense for everyone.
