David: The Shepherd King
Hello! My name is David. When I was a boy, a very long time ago, I was a shepherd. I lived in a town called Bethlehem. My job was to take care of my father’s fluffy sheep. I watched them eat grass and made sure they were safe from big animals like lions and bears. While I watched the sheep, I loved to sing happy songs and play my harp. The music floated in the air and made everyone feel peaceful. The sheep loved my songs, and I loved playing for them under the big, blue sky.
One day, a giant came to our land. His name was Goliath. He was very, very big and had a very loud voice. All the grown-up soldiers were scared of him. But I was not afraid. I knew that being brave comes from your heart, not from how big you are. I took my slingshot, which I used to protect my sheep, and I found a few smooth stones from a stream. I wanted to help my people, so I faced the giant. With one little stone, I defeated the giant and saved the day!
Because I was brave and helped everyone, the people wanted me to be their leader. When I grew up, I became the king of Israel. I was a king for a long, long time, for 40 years. I tried my best to be a good and fair king for all the people in my land. I never forgot my love for music. I wrote many beautiful songs and poems about my feelings and my faith. These songs are called Psalms, and they are like prayers you can sing. People still read and sing my songs today.
I lived to be about 70 years old. People remember me as the little shepherd boy who became a great king. My story shows that even if you are small, you can be very brave and do big things. My songs are still here, and they continue to bring comfort and joy to people all over the world, just like they did for my sheep so long ago.
