Just want King Ferdinand II of Aragon?
Hello, my name is Ferdinand, and I was once a king who helped build the country of Spain. My story begins on March 10th, 1452, when I was born a prince in the kingdom of Aragon. In those days, the land we now call Spain was not one country but was divided into many smaller kingdoms. My father was King John II of Aragon, and from the time I was very young, I watched him and learned what it meant to be a leader. He taught me about ruling fairly, protecting our people, and making smart decisions. Growing up in a royal court, I understood that my life would be dedicated to my kingdom, and I prepared for the important duties that I knew were ahead of me.
As I grew older, a very important event was planned for me. On October 19th, 1469, I married Isabella I, the powerful princess of the neighboring kingdom of Castile. Our marriage was much more than just a wedding; it was a promise to bring our two large and important kingdoms together. This was a huge step toward creating a single, united country. A decade later, in 1479, my father passed away, and I became the King of Aragon. From that moment on, Isabella and I began ruling our lands together. People called us the 'Catholic Monarchs,' and we worked as a team, sharing the responsibility of leading our people and combining our strength to make our lands safer and more powerful.
One of our greatest goals was to finish the 'Reconquista,' which was a long effort that had lasted for centuries to bring all the kingdoms on the Iberian Peninsula under one rule. For many years, the kingdom of Granada in the south was the last remaining piece. My wife, Isabella, and I focused our efforts on a campaign to unite Granada with the rest of Spain. It took a lot of work and time, but we were determined. Finally, a very exciting day arrived. On January 2nd, 1492, Granada officially joined our kingdom. On that historic day, Spain felt like one whole country for the first time, united under our rule. It was a moment of great celebration for us and our people.

In that same busy year of 1492, an explorer with a very bold idea came to our court. His name was Christopher Columbus, and he believed he could find a new, faster route to Asia by sailing west across the Atlantic Ocean. Many people thought his idea was impossible, but Queen Isabella and I listened carefully. We decided to support his journey because we saw the great possibilities it could bring. We gave him three ships for his expedition: the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa María. His voyage across the unknown waters was a great risk, but it ended up changing the world map forever by connecting the continents of Europe and the Americas for the first time.
Looking back, my life was dedicated to building a strong and unified Spain. I lived to be 63 years old. People today remember me and my wife, Isabella, for bringing together the kingdoms that created the modern country of Spain. We are also remembered for sponsoring the voyage of Christopher Columbus, which began a new age of exploration and helped start what became known as Spain's Golden Age. Our work helped shape the world you know today.
