The story

Michael Faraday: A Story of Curiosity

Hello! My name is Michael Faraday. A long, long time ago, in the year 1791, I was born. When I was a little boy, I did not go to a big school. Instead, I loved to read books. I worked in a shop that put books together. I read every single book I could get my hands on! They were full of amazing ideas and big questions. I had so many questions of my own, especially about the invisible magic called science.

One day, in the year 1812, I got to see a famous scientist named Humphry Davy do amazing experiments. It was like a magic show, but it was all real! I wrote down everything I saw and drew pictures. I sent my notes to him, and guess what? He gave me a job as his helper! I got to clean the lab and watch all the incredible science happen every single day.

As I grew up, I did my own experiments. In the year 1821, I played with electricity and magnets. I discovered that I could make a wire spin around and around using a magnet and electricity. It was like I taught them a secret dance! This was the very first electric motor. My discovery helped create something that makes your toys whir and fans spin.

My ideas helped light up our world and power so many things we use today. I lived to be 75 years old, and my whole life was a wonderful adventure of asking questions. I hope you always stay curious, too. You never know what amazing things you might discover just by asking 'why?'
