Just want Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi?
Hello! My name is Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi. When I was a little boy, I loved looking at the stars and playing with numbers. Numbers were like a fun puzzle to me, and I wanted to figure out all their secrets.
When I grew up, I moved to a big, busy city called Baghdad. Around the year 820, I got to work in a very special library called the House of Wisdom. It was filled with books and scrolls from all over the world! I spent my days reading, learning, and writing down all my new ideas about math and science.
I loved finding new ways to solve number puzzles. I wrote a book to show everyone a new method I called 'al-jabr.' It was like a secret code for finding missing numbers in a problem. That word, 'al-jabr,' became known as algebra, which you might learn in school one day!
I lived a long and busy life thinking about numbers. Even though that was a long time ago, people still use my ideas today. Every time you solve a math problem or a computer follows instructions, you are using the ideas I wrote about in my books. My love for puzzles helped change the world!
