Muhammad
Hello. My name is Muhammad. I was born in a busy city called Mecca around the year 570. My father passed away before I was even born, and my dear mother passed away when I was a little boy. Because of this, I was raised by my kind grandfather and then my loving uncle, Abu Talib. Even as a boy, I always tried to be honest and fair with everyone I met. People trusted me so much that they gave me the nickname Al-Amin, which means 'the Trustworthy'.
When I grew up, I became a merchant, which means I bought and sold things. My work took me traveling to many different places. But I always loved finding quiet places to think all by myself. My favorite spot was a cave on a mountain called Hira. One day, in the year 610, when I was about 40 years old, something amazing happened there. The Angel Gabriel appeared before me. He gave me a very important message from God. This was the very first message of what would become the holy book for Muslims, called the Quran.
The message I received from God was simple and beautiful. It said that there is only one God, and that we should all be kind, share with people who are poor, and be good to one another. I started sharing this message with my family and friends. My wonderful wife, Khadijah, was the very first person to believe in this message. At first, many people in Mecca didn't like this new idea. It was a very difficult and challenging time for my followers and me.
Because it became so hard for us to live in Mecca, my followers and I made a special journey in the year 622. We traveled to a city called Medina. This important trip is called the Hijra. The people of Medina were so kind and welcomed us with open arms. There, we all worked together to build a community based on kindness, being fair, and our faith. It became a place where everyone was welcome and felt cared for.
After many years, I returned to my home city of Mecca, and I forgave everyone who had been unkind to us. I lived to be 63 years old and passed away in the year 632. Today, the message of peace, kindness, and belief in one God that I shared continues to guide billions of people around the world who are called Muslims. They remember my story and try to live with the same compassion and honesty that I taught.
